Calace Luthiers

The Calace family is a renowned dynasty of Neapolitan luthiers dating back to 1825, famous for crafting high-quality mandolins and plucked string instruments. Founded by Nicola Calace and carried forward by his descendants—especially the influential Raffaele Calace—the family introduced important innovations, such as extending the mandolin’s range and creating the liuto cantabile. Over generations, the Calace workshop in Naples has remained a symbol of tradition and excellence in instrument making, earning international acclaim among musicians and orchestras worldwide.
