Gran Sasso and the Sahara Dust

We arrived in late afternoon on the plain of Campo Imperatore, which sits at 2000m of altitude.
We went for a brief hike, just to see the surroundings and check if there was any good light for some shots.
While coming back, the moon was rising. We stopped for a moment, admiring it. It didn’t exactly looked like the moon. The thick layer of Sahara dust covered much of it. The whole place didn’t feel like Earth, as the dust kept coming in, covering much of the view. We felt like being on a distant planet, already exploited of much of its resources, ready to give up.
Not a distant sight from our destiny, to be honest.
